Block paving is one of the most satisfying surfaces to restore — the before and after difference is dramatic. Weeds, algae and years of staining removed. Re-sanding and sealing available. Free quotes, fully insured.
Block paving driveways and patios look incredible when first laid, but within a few years the joints fill with weeds, the surface greens over with algae and the colours dull under a layer of grime. The good news is that block paving responds brilliantly to professional cleaning.
We use a rotary surface cleaner for an even, streak-free result across the whole surface — not just a standard lance, which can leave uneven lines. Weeds and moss are removed from the joints, and we can re-sand with kiln-dried sand afterwards to restore structural stability and inhibit regrowth.
Sealing is also available after cleaning — a high-quality block paving sealer locks in the colour, makes future cleaning easier and provides an extra barrier against weeds and oil staining.

Large weeds and moss cleared from joints before washing. Pre-treatment applied to stubborn staining and established algae.
Specialist rotary cleaner used across the full surface — ensures even, consistent cleaning without streaking or missed areas.
Borders, edges and any areas the rotary can't reach cleaned by hand with a precision lance. Full perimeter addressed.
Kiln-dried sand brushed into joints. If sealing is agreed, applied once surface is fully dry. You inspect before we leave.
Pressure washing removes the original jointing sand along with the weeds and grime — this is unavoidable. Without re-sanding, the blocks can rock and shift, joints remain open for weeds to recolonise, and the structural integrity of the surface is compromised. Re-sanding with kiln-dried sand stabilises everything and gives weeds much less to establish in.
Sealing is optional but recommended, particularly for older or more porous block paving. A good sealer locks in colour, makes oil and staining much easier to remove in future, and significantly slows algae and weed regrowth. We can advise on appropriate sealant products for your specific paving type. Sealing is done as a separate step once the surface is fully dry — usually a day after cleaning.
Oil stains on block paving can be significantly reduced or eliminated depending on their age and depth. Fresh oil responds well to pre-treatment before pressure washing. Very old, deeply ingrained oil may be impossible to fully remove, but we'll always give you an honest assessment before we start rather than promise something we can't deliver.
Every 2–3 years for most block paving driveways in Lincolnshire. Shaded areas, or those under overhanging trees, may need annual attention. After sealing, the intervals between cleans typically extend as the surface is more resistant to algae and grime.
Not when done correctly. We use a rotary surface cleaner rather than a direct lance, which distributes pressure evenly and eliminates the risk of 'tiger stripes' or surface damage that comes from an incorrectly held lance. We've cleaned hundreds of block paving driveways across Lincolnshire without incident.
